Fresh Window Tint

My coworkers are all raving about the changes that were made to our office over the weekend. Management didn’t tell us it was happening, and when we showed up to work two hours ago to start the working week, we were shocked by an office space that looks completely different to what it did three days ago. They all love it but I’m not convinced. Why did management spend money on office window tinting, when they haven’t even updated the equipment we use because they apparently can’t afford it? It seems like they’ve just put a bandaid on a broken vase… the problem hasn’t been fixed at all.

My coworkers however, have seemed to completely forget all the issues we have with management, and are just absolutely loving the new design of our office. I do admit that the office space went from about a 3/10 to a solid 8/10 in terms of appearance and functionality over the weekend, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that we don’t have good enough equipment to effectively do our job and that apparently we don’t need that equipment. If it wasn’t for all that, I would be equally as excited about the new office, but it’s too little too late in my opinion.

For the last couple of hours, my coworkers have been trying to get me to ‘lighten up’ and ‘appreciate’ the new office glass tinting. Melbourne workers seem to be dazzled by pretty and aesthetically pleasing offices, to the point where they forget about everything else. Well, I’m not like that, and I refuse to appreciate anything (no matter how nice) that isn’t helping me to do my job better.

Maybe management will be upgrading our equipment to go along with our newly designed office space. If that’s the case, then I’d be more than happy to celebrate the new space with my coworkers, because it really is a big improvement. Until then however, I am not impressed.
